Google Slapped with $5B Lawsuit for Monitoring Users in Incognito Mode

You know how the Incognito Mode works in Google Chrome. It claims to give privacy to your browsing, which cannot be tracked by anyone. However, Google had an eye over the users who use Incognito Mode. Yes,  you heard it right. As the case came out, the search engine giant was slapped with a $5 billion class-action lawsuit which claims that the users are being tracked during the private browsing sessions. As per reports, the lawsuit claims that Google has been violating the wiretapping and privacy laws for tracking, intercepting and collecting communication when Incognito mode of the Chrome seems to be in use. Ever since it came to Google, the company has been trying to get away with the lawsuit as it was slapped last June. As per the federal judge, the lawsuit should go ahead.

Earlier, the judge claimed that the company has failed to inform the users about their data policy which they will be collecting in the Incognito mode. The judge Mr. Lucy Koh in California claimed that the giant company fails to notify the users, which Google is seen engaging in the alleged data collection whereas the users thought they were enjoying their private browsing. To be precise, the consumers are seen filing the case that is being taken to the issue with the Google data collection that is seen using different other services while being in the Incognito mode.

It further added saying that the users that are using the said mode did not know about the fact that the data is still being hijacked by the company’s tool called Google Analytics. The consumers who were seen filing the suit claimed that they felt that they were safe while using the same. Google was seen disputing about the same. In the statement issued by its spokesperson called Jose Castaneda the company objects to this claim and would even go to defend in the following hearings. They further claimed that the users knew that they can be either tracked while browsing using it or may not be done the same. They have communicated about the same claims as the spokesperson of the company. He concluded saying that it is the website they visit while using the said mode that can track them and not Google.

So with this objection, the consumers were quick to file a class action lawsuit against the company saying that they have been collecting the data while using the Incognito mode in the Google Chrome web browser. In the final hearing of the case, the judge heard both the parties and the bench had clear ideas as to what had transpired between the two. He decided upon the fact that the data is still collected by the company despite they were seen claiming that it was the visited websites that record the data of the consumers. The fact of the matter is that this mode helps in preventing the browsing data in a big way from others who use the same device. However, the sites you visit will record your data for sure.
