Messing App Zoom Faces Lawsuit for Security and Privacy Flaws

In the current lockdown, the app called Zoom has emerged out as the most useful software application for meeting and online classes apart from other uses. The Zoom app seems to be hit hard, all thanks to the class action lawsuit which has come from one of its shareholders who seems to have alleged that the company has not disclosed the issues with the security and privacy issues of the video conferencing platform. As per reports, the suit seems to have been filed by the investor called Michael Drieu in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. It said that the software has various flaws on the said issues. This has further hampered the company in a big way in terms of the shares.

The investors have largely viewed the company as a bellwether of the surging demand for the enterprise software amidst the COVID 19 Pandemic. The tech giant Microsoft team’s application has even reported the matter to the wild customer growth in the lockdown measures that come all over the world forcing a number of employees to start working from home. Despite the legal action news out in the media, Zoom stock seemed to have gone up only by 4 percent this morning. Zoom however was not available to comment on this situation. Eric Yuvan the CEO of Zoom later came posed his apology for the debacle in one of his blogpost last week for the fallen share about the privacy and security expectations.“

The application seems to be banned by the company called SpaceX of Elon Musk along with the school based at New York about the flaws that have gone a bit high thus intensifying scrutiny like the company is seen surging in terms of popularity. Zoom, however, was seen saying that it has reached the 200 million daily users in the month of March, as far as the maximum 10 million daily users are concerned which it has attracted in December. The users have even shared the stories about the attacks in terms of security where there were reports about some calls being hijacked and bombarded with toxic content and at times even pushing the pornographic content.

The company was seen encouraging the users to rely upon the features including the waiting room, which seemed to have a meeting during the lockdown time and sharing screens to restrict such attacks. We have seen Zoom being criticized for sharing even the personal data of the users with social media sites like Facebook even if the users were not active on the said site. While there were issues of getting some other mistakes which Zoom has called them as mistaken things. The company, however, was seen making a couple of changes to its platform for addressing such problems. It was Letitia James, the New York state attorney general, who has asked the company separately for defining any changes made to deal with the recent rise in traffic on its network. This has come only in the backdrop of the rising concerns with vulnerabilities including the entry of hackers to gain the access to people’s webcams.
