Facebook & Microsoft Come Together with WHO for Coronavirus Hackathon

Just when the Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates was seen saying that the US has missed its chance to avoid the mandated lockdown as it failed to act fast over the issue of coronavirus pandemic, we see the company along with Google was seen coming together with the World Health Organization for an initiative called Coronavirus Hackathon. When Gates was busy alleging the US that the company had lost its opportunity to combat the virus without making the required shutdown, his own company was seen playing its role against the virus. He was talking about the same at the event called Ted Connects Program broadcast online.

Now, talking about the collaboration, the global health body called the WHO has come forward to collaborate with Facebook and Microsoft along with other top tech companies like Google, Twitter and Amazon has come forward for the hackathon for promoting the development of various software programs for taking up the challenge that has been posed for the COVID 19 pandemic. The hackathon is called as the #BuildforCOVID19 hackathon, which was announced yesterday and it will start getting the project submissions by the coming day.

With Facebook and the tech giant Microsoft, the other tech companies including Twitter, Pinterest, WeChat, TikTok, Slack and Giphy are also coming together by participating for the hackathon. The tech companies are coming out to share a wide range of resources when it comes to supporting the participants coming forward for the hackathon in the entire process of the submission period. The social media site like Facebook is helping with features including Blood Donations along with helping people on Crisis Response, which were seen getting first built up during the hackathons and are seen being employed by millions of people all over the world.

The Facebook CEO -Mark Zuckerberg was seen posting about the same when it comes to promoting the hackathon.  He further added saying that he is hopeful to see some of the useful ideas and prototypes that are going to work out from this event. The event is basically carried out for motivating and helping the software programmers and developers to create projects that remained focussed over the different themes along with businesses, vulnerable populations, entertainment, education and community. The deadline for this venture to submit the same is carried out till Monday, while the Hackathon will be announced by the top projects on 3rd April.

With the given isolation seen being experienced within the communities, the global health body will be experiencing something interesting and positive within the communities at the moment. It further claims that they want to develop an online space where the software programmers and developers could easily share their ideas, experiment and develop competitive software solutions that can further help in addressing this crisis in a big way, claimed the global body in its statement about the event hackathon. With the current COVID 19 virus crisis, there are around 375,498 cases all across the world being reported about the same, while the death toll have reached to 16,362 claims the latest reports of Johns Hopkins University.
