Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity Pushed Till October

In the ad world, the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity remains the huge award festival and conference, which is held in France every summer. However, with the coronavirus outbreak, Cannes Lions seems to be pushed till October, while it was slated to be organized from June 22 to 26 and now has been pushed to 26th of October via 30. The conference organizers earlier said that it has passed the sponsorship arrangements along with the bookings that would have been rolling till it seemed valid. The previous week, the Coronavirus was seen spreading in many nations like Italy and in and around Cannes, claimed the authorities of the conference.

It has seen the spread of the Coronavirus affecting not less than 1000 people lifting to April 15th of 2020 on Friday. Edouard Philippe the French PM was seen announcing the restrictions on the various public meetings and gatherings by banning a number of groups of around 100 people and then the president of the country Emmanuel Macron seems to have ordered the French to stay at home for around 15 days. The cancellation of the event Cannes Lions to be held in June will come like nations coming out in an increasingly strict kind of steps in order to curtail the spread of the coronavirus that has so far affected the lives of more than 200k and killed around 8k people claims the reports of Johns Hopkins University.

The Cannes Lions Festival seemed to be slated to take place in a month after the Cannes Film Festival was seen getting organized. The organizers of the film festival claimed to anticipate in making the decision over the cancellation of the event taking place in April. However, pushing the event to October would only create some amount of congestion for the ad industry events. Similarly, the Ad Week New York was seen slated to take place in October and hence the Masters of Marketing organized by Association of National Advertisers group what could come ahead in between October 20 to 23 in Orlando, Florida. 

The Cannes Lions festival was expected to come out this year during the Amazon and Netflix presentation for the first time having the session seen from Claudine Cheever, Global Head of Brand and the Advertising taking place at Amazon, while similar is the case with Jean Tanis, Global Marketing Creative Lead at Netflix who expressed similar concern for the event. The other key names to be seen in the schedule include Microsoft’s Corporate VP of Brand, along with the Advertising and Research Kathleen Hall, Procter & Gamble’s Chief Brand Officer Marc Pritchard, Molson Coors’ CMO Michelle St Jacques, and Burger King’s global CMO Fernando Machado.
