Amazon Has Big Plans For small businesses in India

The Amazon company intends to export around 10 billion USD Indian made products by the end of 2025.

As we see Jeff Bezos Amazon CEO in India, the small and medium-sized business owners have reasons to rejoice since they see the e-commerce giant 1 billion investment in the country. However, the company faces antitrust issue and a wave of protests were seen in the country at certain parts. But soon we saw the company’s CEO talking to the media about his plans along with Amit Agarwal, who is leading face in Amazon’s India operations. While talking about his plans, he said the company intends to invest around 1 billion USD to convert the small scale businesses into digital platform. 

The Amazon company intends to export around 10 billion USD Indian made products by the end of 2025. While talking about the same, the company CEO said that Amazon has big plans for India that will add the dynamism and energy giving the best alliance between the US and India that remain the oldest democratic nations in the world. He also touched on various other issues while talking to the media including space exploration and climate change. The company had its two day event in India that was organized for small size businesses to connect with the giant. The company has already invested around 5 billion USD in Indian businesses. Last year, we have seen a good partnership between the Future Retail earlier. 

The announcement made by the company was done on the wake to expand the marketplace in the country. It has more than 550,000 sellers in India with more than 60,000 Indian manufacturers who are exporting their products and goods all across the world using Amazon. The investment by the company has got a good reception in India. However, a bunch of small businesses seemed going critical on the visit of company CEO and they were even seen hosting protests in not less than 300 cities in India. They asked Jeff Bexos to return to his hometown and people in CII feel that Amazon has remained the biggest enemy on earth.

Amazon company seems to face some antitrust issues in India. The agency in India called CCI or Competition Commission of India has started the investigation about this issue to find out whether Amazon and Flipkart backed by Walmart have violated on certain issues on competition thing while they promoted their preferred sellers on the said platform and by getting huge discounts. However, the two companies (Amazon and Flipkart) claim that they remain complaint to the laws found in this place. Bezos is still in India and is planning his visit with the Indian PM and the B Town stars to make inroads in India getting big here.
