Too Many Fake Food Shops on Food Apps now Bugging Consumers

In the recent past year or so, we have seen the popularity of food apps with great vigor. These include Zomato and Swiggy that remain the favorite place to order for a wide range of food. However, of late, a strange kind of issues have been noticed by the customers on these food apps. These stores have become one of the ways of squeezing money from people’s wallet by showcasing their extensive, and mouth-watering menu. Once the customer places the order by paying for the same, you get an apologetic call from the food app staff saying that the said store does not exist at the given address as shown on the Google map.

Of late, there seems to be an increase in such issues seen over the popular food apps – Swiggy and Zomato. It has kept many customers stranded in queue waiting for long to see the food order and they end up coming up getting nothing and at times even losing their money. Thus with such a helm of affairs, the big question that arises, if any restaurant are seen shutting down their shutters, then why on earth are still laying on these food apps. And interestingly, how the food orders are taken for these food joints and restaurants when they are not functional anymore. As per reports, the customer had witnessed an issue with Swiggy.

Similar was the story of a young couple who had faced similar issues with the Food-based app called Zomato in Delhi. Reaching out at the location, the executives of Zomato claimed the same thing saying that nothing really has come out from it. The question still haunts, how the fake or closed restaurants/food shops are seen facing the problem. Talking about the issue, the spokesperson from Swiggy claims that they try to give their consumers a wide range of selection when it comes to choosing a restaurant or food joints for maintaining their high standards while carrying out on-boarding. However, with the rise in complaints, the company executives are working proactively in this matter.

All thanks to the growing competition seen in the market when we see the Food apps fighting to get more food joints and restaurants on the board. Also, the use of modern technologies, the fast-changing consumer behavior along with reducing the errors and thus boost up the customer experience. As per a market research company called RedSeer, the country is expected to see a surge in the food delivery market. The same reports suggest that by the end of 2020 to gain 4 Billion USD. Both the leading food app-based companies Swiggy and Zomato are seen relying on technologies including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

Experts feel that the robots are not able to find out the invisible locations, which seems to have created this problem for the food apps. Well, you need to wait for the AI to reach to that level to find out the defunct food joints or restaurants. However, at the moment the only solution that appears is that the companies operating the apps should come out with some other solution rather than relying on AI or similar technologies.
