Google Maps Will Soon Highlight well-lit streets for Getting safer Night Travels

Google Maps as we know has been the popular tool for travelers who are on a regular move in the city during the night and day. With the growing crime in the secluded and dark spaces, Google Maps are now working on a feature to help people to walk safely. Once the tech giant introduces this feature, Google Maps is going to highlight the bright-lit roads that the users can easily choose for taking up their new commutes. This feature is under testing mode and has been discovered by a group of xdadevelopers.

Currently, we see this feature dubbed as “Lighting Layer” where we see it helping and highlighting the well-lit streets on Google Maps with the help of yellow color indication. The Yellow lines are known to showcase the streets with good lighting effects that this feature description is added over the Google Maps. This would help the users to find out the streets having no or minimal lighting. This feature has been found out in an APK teardown of Google Maps beta version 10.31.0. We are still to find out the screenshots for the Google Maps for the Lighting Layer feature as of now.

The feature discovery, however, does not necessarily confirm Google that will launch a very stable version in the coming future. It can be an interesting and useful feature for the users who are traveling or commuting late nights though, yet Xdadevelopers are planning to release this feature fist in India and then in the rest of the world. All thanks to the rise of crime against women in the dark that has snowballed in the recent past to allow the tech giant taking up this step for Indian users first and then for others. This is not the first time when the Indian users are getting this custom make feature.

Earlier we have seen Google rolling out the feature Stay Safer for the users based in India. this very feature would be going to alert the users in cabs and taxis if they commuters particularly the ladies taking a different route rather than the designed routs. The phone of the user would buzz with a notification in case if the Google Map of the user detects a certain deviation within half km of the route assigned. With this feature, the users can now be able to share live locations with their contacts. This seems to be a well come move by the Tech Giant and would in many ways help the travelers particularly the ladies to safe in lighted locations.
