Amazon the E-commerce giant, seems to be in trouble as it is not able to pay the salaries to their employees. The workers at the ground level Amazon Warehouse seems to be complaining about for not being paid by the company. This has kept them stranded for meeting their ends. They are not able to support their families and pay their bills. The workers are now being sent for self-quarantine and people are now suffering from their workforce. Even the workers with health issues are seen struggling as they are not being paid on time and they are seen standing behind in getting things fixed for them.
Amazon however, was seen saying that it will offer their employees with the paid sick leaves both to the full time and part-time employees who feel that the company is not paying them. It said sooner or later the company will pay their salaries and allow them to avail the paid sick leaves as well. People with or without symptoms who have gone for a lockdown would be paid as per the hourly basis by the end of April. The company is able to offer them a huge amount of time and effort. In the meantime, the Amazon workers are now saying that they do not mind getting their money a bit late in their lockdown time as what matters for them the most is getting it.
They are getting 60% of their regular weekly pay while the workers now seemed to be happy. However, this is not the case everywhere as people from Indiana and other states are facing problems while they are into quarantine and are not being paid by the company. The workers are seen complaining without disclosing their identity but are very much sure of the fact that they would get the money sooner or later as the company has assured them the elements like safety and transparency for their facilities. However, there are a few who are complaining saying that they are not feeling safe with such verbal assurances. On the other side the Amazon spokesperson was seen saying to the media that the company has given the workers two weeks paid sick leave who are facing some health issues.
It claims that the company would give them enough time to get rid of their health issues and return to work. They also claimed that the employees would not lose their income by any means. The employees who are being diagnosed with the said virus and are in the quarantine spaces are also eligible for additional paid time beyond the standard announced two weeks paid leaves claimed the spokesperson. He further said that the company is getting the data of their workers facing health issues and they would approve the extra time and leave with pay. The spokesperson said that the company is revising the policies to make sure the safety of the employees moving ahead with the info which includes the symptoms and exposure to the environment leading to the virus.
