The e-commerce giant Amazon is back in the news and this time, it has embarked upon its virtual medical clinic called Care. Amazon Care has gone live in Seattle now for its employees along with their dependents working in its corporate head office. The company official has confirmed the services that are available via the employee benefits portal. The rep of the company is based in different locations outside the campus that would help the employees to check the benefits. This application offers virtual medical consultations along with giving the right schedule for carrying out the follow-up visit from a wide range of healthcare professionals to the home or office of the patient. It is also the best way to deliver the prescriptions for the home of the patient claims the company website.

So, now with Amazon Care, any employee of Amazon can avail of the healthcare services via the app on their devices. With the app, the company intends to reduce the wait or travel time in accessing the medical services for the employees and their family members via live chat or video. Amazon Care also has the option of in-person follow up services from the registered healthcare professionals. The services can range from immunizations to instant strep throat detection claimed the spokesperson. Amazon Care does not claim that it has plans to expand beyond Seattle although it can have at the later stage.

Earlier there were reports that Amazon is closely working for its employees through employee health clinics and it had rolled out the plan since 2018 which has been working with limited hires using the network of healthcare clinics. Although one can find the services coming from Amazon employees found in Seattle today, if you intend to succeed in improving up the employee satisfaction then services like Amazon Care are mandatory. Now, Amazon intends to offer these services practically and not just through lip service. With this, Amazon has embarked upon several open roles for it including designers, product managers for the health company as it looks ahead to expand its team.

The Amazon Care then provides services from nurses and physicians for the technically qualified people via Oasis Medical. With this, the employees’ health is not legally entitled to have. However, Amazon is not just the only tech giant to have such services. Companies like Apple too have similar services called the AC Wellness that is based at California headquarters offering quality healthcare services. However, the company officials claim that Amazon Care is just one part of the company’s healthcare strategy, there are more to come.
